Last Thursday, the ISSA held its first annual Young Staffing Professionals event. The lineup included a brief overview on how to maximize the benefits of a personal LinkedIn profile, a presentation on how to be successful in the business, a Q&A session with seasoned veterans on a panel, wrapped up by an Oktoberfest experience. Not only did we learn, but we had a fun.
Terri Kosecki, ISSA’s President, kicked it off with a detailed presentation on how to leverage a LinkedIn profile for search and for reputation. It’s amazing how much there is to gain by having a spot on, well-written profile.
Teresa Olsen then took the stage and gave the attendees a glimpse into her experiences that helped her build confidence, and ultimately success in the staffing industry. Teresa let us all know that it’s no easy feat being in this fast paced business. Dedication, confidence and determination can make or break anyone who ventures into the field.
To wrap up the sessions, Andrew Stein did an outstanding job of moderating a question/answer session with a panel of staffing veterans. The panel included Rama Kavaliauskas, Aurelija Cekalinas, Terri Koseki, Teresa Olsen, and Russ Beaupre. Interesting stories were produced on all fronts and from all different perspectives.
And finally, an Oktoberfest celebration capped off the event with an evening stroll down the street to Hofbrauhaus.
And most importantly, the ISSA gives special thanks to Terri Roeslmeier and ABD, the maker of Ultra-Staff Staffing Software, for organizing and sponsoring this event. Terri’s tiresome dedication to the Association and to pulling off this event in a short period of time, on the cusp of preparing for Staffing World, is not to be undersold.
Will we see you next year staffing rookies and young ones? We hope so!
